Rae Bareli, Feb 15 (PTI) Wooing voters in her family pocketborough, Congress' star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi today asked people to elect a Congress government in Uttar Pradesh for rapid development of the state. Addressing a series of election meetings in Uchchar assembly segment, she lashed out at BSP and SP accusing these parties of doing nothing on the development front. During the SP rule, "goonda elements had a free hand and the common people were harassed", Priyanka said. During the BSP's regime, central funds for development were misused, she alleged. It is time for the people to look for future of their chidren and vote Congress to power after a gap of 22 years in the state, Priyanka said. She reminded the electorate that their MP Sonia Gandhi had helped in bringing several welfare programmes to their area like the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrificaction scheme. Roads in rural areas were also constructed, she said promising more development in the event of Congress forming its government in the state. In between the hectic electioneering, Priyanka had lunch in the field.
