Elderly woman attempts suicide, blames MCD

New Delhi, Aug 9 (PTI) Apparently depressed over her efforts to get her house de-sealed by the MCD for nearly two years, a 57-year-old woman attempted suicide outside the house in a south Delhi locality. Chandra Thakur, who wrote a note on her wall blaming MCD officials for her step, attempted suicide by taking an overdose of a medicine yesterday, police said today. However, MCD officials said the house was sealed due to an illegally constructed part. Police, which came to know about the incident, rushed Thakur, who worked with a private school in RK Puram as a senior administration officer, to a hospital. Doctors said her condition was stated to be stable. The house outside which Chandra attempted suicide is a DDA flat, allotted to her husband Surender Singh Thakur in 1988.
