Mumbai, Jan 18 (PTI) Eight persons were today arrested for allegedly abducting a production manager of a popular TV serial and robbing him in suburban Goregaon, police said. According to the city crime branch officials, the victim, Govind Das (36), who is a production manager for TV serial `Adalat', left his workplace in Trombay on Sunday night, and stopped near the Oberoi Mall in Goregaon on his way home. Das had been receiving calls from a man who identified himself as Vijay, seeking a job in TV. After several phone calls, Das had agreed to meet him near the Oberoi mall. As soon as Das reached there, the accused, along with seven others, pushed him into a Tavera car, and drove off. Inside the car, Das was assaulted and robbed of all his belongings, including cash and
gold rings collectively valued at Rs 1.12 lakh before he was abandoned in suburban Jogeshwari, police said. Yesterday, acting on a tip-off, police picked up eight persons for questioning, who allegedly confessed to the crime. Further probe is on. PTI VM KRK
