EC uses Valentine to promote voting

Lucknow, Feb 14 (PTI) The Election Commission today used the occasion of Valentine's Day to encourage young couples to exercise their right to vote and spread the message of voting being the strength of democracy. In the politically-surcharged atmosphere of election-bound Uttar Pradesh, the volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) working for the Election Commission today visited the Lucknow University to catch young voters and use various symbols of Valentine's Day to drive home their message. The highlight of today's campaign was a huge human Valentine Day ring formed by NSS programme officers and student volunteers in the campus carrying the slogan "My Vote, My Valentine" to mark the day. "The reason for holding this event was to spread the message among young voters that your vote should also be as dear as your Valentine," Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Umesh Sinha told
