Puducherry, Dec 7 (PTI) Dr T S Ravikumar, an Emeritus John D Mountain-endowed chair of surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine New York, has assumed charge as the Director of Centrally sponsored Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) here. Ravikumar was appointed as the new Director by the Union Health and Family Welfare Services Ministry, a statement from the institution said. Dr K S V K Subba Rao, the Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Thorasic Surgery in JIPMER, has been holding the post of Director of JIPMER under additional charge. He has now moved to the Department as its Head, JIPMER sources said. Dr Ravikumar has held several posts in Harvard Medical School and was Chief of Surgical Oncology Yale University School of Medicine among other institutions in the US. He had recently been the Medical Director of NCI community cancer centres programme and Chief Quality Officer (Surgery) in Pennsylvania, USA.
