Delhiites spend maximum on milk and milk products

New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) Each Delhiite on an average spends Rs 1,014 on food articles monthly out of which a maximum of around Rs 277 is spent on milk and milk products followed by Rs 198 on beverages and refreshments and Rs 159 on cereals. According to Government figures, the monthly per capita expenses on non-food items such as durable good, tobacco, intoxicants, fuel, clothing, entertainment, toiletries, consumer services and goods etc have been estimated at Rs 1796.57. The monthly per capita expenditure (MPCE) of Delhiites living in urban areas has been estimated at Rs 2,905 in 2010 while the figure for people living in rural areas is Rs 1,761. The average figure for MPCE has been estimated at Rs 2,811. The per capita expense on food items in rural areas is Rs 771 against Rs 1036 in urban areas. The average per capita expenditure on food items for all section of population has been estimated at Rs 1,014.48 The details of the expenditure pattern and food habits of Delhiites have figured in a handbook on household consumer expenditure brought out by Delhi Government. The per capita expense of people living in urban areas on non food items has been estimated at Rs 1868 against Rs 989.75 of people living in rural areas. MORE
