CRPF is trained in different disciplines to meet challenges
Coimbatore, Mar 21 (PTI) The Cental Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is being given training in different disciplines to meet the challenges of various problems, particularly Left-wing extremism and law and order in various states, a top official said today. Though a large contingent of the force was deployed to counter insurgent activities in Jammu and Kashmir and of late Maoists, the force was given training in different fields to make them capable in tackling various problems and challenges arising in the country from time to time, D K Pathak, Additional Director General (Training), CRPF, told reporters at Central Training College, on the city outskirts. Pathak, who took guard of honour at the passing out parade of the 124 directly appointed Sub-Inspectors, said CRPF was also being given training in jungle warfare, as Maoists were normally operated from jungles, and also in sniper shooting. Stating that about 13,000 constables were undergoing training at various centres in the country, he said 1,600 SIs and 159 Assistant Commanding Officers were being given specialised training to meet various challenges. On induction of dogs, Pathak said that CRPF had already purchased 59 Belgium Sheperd, which would be used as sniffers, trackers and for patrolling and would augment the strength by in-house breeding in Taralu near Bangalore.
