Cops arrest ten people and seize 620 kg ganja worth Rs 20 lakh

Visakhapatnam, Jul 6 (PTI) Police seized 620 kgs of ganja worth more than Rs 20 lakh and arrested ten people during raids conducted at various places in the 'agency area' of the district during the last three days. Four cases have been registered at different police stations, a police statement said. Police found five people loading bags into a car near Cheemalapadu village of Ravikamatham Mandal, while conducting night rounds last night. On seeing the police, they fled from the place leaving five bags of ganja containing 250 kg and a motorcycle. The police caught one person Marukonda Appalaraju of B B Patnam village of Rolugunta Mandal, while the others escaped in a car. In another incident, police found eleven people with 350 kg of ganja near Butchampeta village of Rolugunta Mandal. On seeing the cops, they left the place, leaving the ganja behind. Later, the police apprehended nine people in this connection, a police statement said.
