Washington, Feb 15 (PTI) Nancy Powell's nomination as the new US Ambassador to India has been approved by a key Congressional committee. Powell, if confirmed, would be the first women America Ambassador to India. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday approved the nomination of the US President Barack Obama in this regard at its meeting with unanimous consent. It is now for the United States Senate to approve the nomination, which is now considered to be a mere formality. She testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week.
