BEIJING (Reuters) - China's exports in January fell 0.5 percent from a year earlier, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Friday, well below market expectations for a rise of 4.8 percent and weaker than December's increase of 13.4 percent.

The customs agency is scheduled to announce January trade data later on Friday.
