Naisingpara (Tripura), Feb 18 (PTI) Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today appealed to the displaced Reangs from Mizoram to return to their home for fruitful and permanent solution of their problem. "I would appeal to you to return to your home at Mizoram. A fruitful and permanent solution of your problem is possible if you return. Your problems could not be solved if you stay here," Chidambaram told the displaced Reangs. More than 35,000 displaced Reangs(known as Brus in Mizoram)are now sheltered in six evacuee camps at Kanchanpur in North Tripura district. They took refuge in the camps in phased manner following ethnic clashes with the Mizos over possession of land. Chidambaram met a delegation of Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum headed by its president Swaibunga. Union Home minister told them that Centre is keen to solve the problem as early as possible and sanctioned Rs 33 crore to the ministry of DoNER for repatriation of the displaced people from Mizoram. Swaibunga said they submitted a 23-point charter of demand including restoration of their ancestral land occupied by the Mizos, proper rehabilitation package and complete safety and security to their lives and property. Chidambaram told the delegation that all these demands should be properly taken care of if they return home. PTI JOY AMD
