Yavatmal, Feb 10 (PTI) Ner police have registered a criminal case against Maharashtra Congress chief Manikrao Thakre and Yavatmal Guardian Minister Nitin Raut for alleged violation of model code of conduct. The complaint was filed by Nayab Tehsildar of Ner tehsil, Kanhoba Kumre. District Collector, Shravan Hadikar, said that MLA of Digras, Sanjay Rathod, had lodged a complaint before the Returning Officer and Tehsildar of Ner alleging that Thakre and Raut violated the model code by addressing election meetings at villages Balegaon and Kohla in Watfali area. As per the guidelines issued by Chief Election Commissioner, no one is allowed to conduct any election meeting in a constituency where he/she is not a voter after the deadline for campaigning is over. It may be recalled that MLA Rathod and nine Shiv Sena workers had been earlier arrested on the charge of pelting stones at the government vehicle in the convoy of the Minister Nitin Raut a few days earlier.
