Coimbatore, Feb 18 (PTI): Hindu Munanni today called for a trade bandh on Feb 22 in the city, Mettupalayam and nearby Tirupur to draw the state government's attention to the urgent need to commission Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant as the state is facing acute power shortage. "With Tamil Nadu reeling under acute power shortage, affecting industries, trade and commerce, nuclear power can give some respite to tide over the crisis," Munnani spokesperson Mookambikai Mani, told reporters here today. The Munnani would put forward the appeal to all trade bodies and associations by tomorrow, Mani said. At least 3,000 shops and commercial establishments are expected to down shutters in support of the bandh in the city and expect a good response from Mettupalayam and Tirupur, Mani said.
