Mumbai, Feb 21 (PTI) The derivatives trading on the country's premier bourse BSE Ltd today zoomed to a record Rs 53,000 crore-mark. The trading turnover had touched Rs 51,000-crore mark on last Wednesday. The volume of derivatives trading touched Rs 53,765.43 crore with 2,260,066 total contracts traded on Tuesday, the BSE said in a statement here. In the futures segment, Sensex (future contracts-current month) stood at 1,699.91 crore, and Nifty (future contracts-current month) at Rs 11,010 crore, the release said. The Index futures registered Rs 1,716.80 crore turnover with 62,025 contracts traded on BSE today. Among others Index Option (call) registered a turnover of Rs 12,878.17 crore, Index Option (Put) Rs 38,968.55 crore and equity future Rs 197.44 crore, the release said. The exchange launched market-making scheme, known as the Liquidity Enhancement Incentive Programmes or LEIPs last year with the expectation that it would improve liquidity and benefit to the retail stock market investors. One hundred and thirteen broker-members participated in derivatives trading on Tuesday, the release said.
