Ahmedabad, Jun 12 (PTI) Former union minister and dissident BJP leader Kanshiram Rana today appealed to OBCs in Gujarat to stand up against Modi government for their rights. "Our community has got nothing in the last 10 years of this (BJP) rule. The time has come to fight for our rights and we should bring change in the present regime to gain our rights," said Rana who recently gravitated towards the anti-Modi group led by veteran BJP leader Keshubhai Patel. Rana was addressing a public rally of OBCs at Botad town in Bhavnagar district, organised by the Modi-baiters as part of their ongoing campaign against the chief minister ahead of the assembly elections due in December. "OBC community in Gujarat form more than 50 per cent of state population....I also belong to this community. We should not stop till we get our rights," Rana said. Apart from Rana, a number of leaders including former chief minister Suresh Mehta, Maha-Gjarat Janta Party chief Gordhan Zadafia, BJP MLA Kanu Kalsaria, attended the public meeting. Keshubhai was, however, not present at the rally. This is the second such massive rally organised by the Modi dissidents after a public meeting of tribals held in Panchmahals district on Sunday. Mehta lashed out at the Modi government saying Gujarat slipped on human development index in all fields like education, poverty and malnutrition. Mehta had left BJP before the 2007 assembly elections. PTI PD NSK
