New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) With assembly elections in the state just a few months away, BJP today appointed a new president for its Himachal Pradesh unit in a bid to check growing rebellion in the party rank and file and fight the polls unitedly. Party president Nitin Gadkari appointed Satpal Satti, a two-time MLA, as BJP Himachal Pradesh unit president. The post had been lying vacant since Khiriram Sharma submitted his resignation in the face of dissenting voices within the state unit against the state unit top brass. In a statement issued by BJP, the party has accepted that Sharma had resigned due to some "political activities" in the state unit. Satti is Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. Gadkari had sent party general secretary and former minister in the Prem Kumar Dhumal cabinet, Jagat Prakash Nadda, to talk to the BJP MLAs and other leaders about the issues and their grievances.
