New Delhi, Feb 15 (PTI) The elder brother of battered baby Falak was rescued from the house of a vendor in west Delhi, police said today. The five-year-old boy was rescued from the Uttam Nagar residence of one Mohd Shakil yesterday. Sources were deployed in Uttam Nagar area as the accused persons arrested earlier in the case disclosed that the son of Munni and brother of Falak was given to one Shakil. The boy was given to Shakil by Laxmi, who was earlier arrested in the case. Shakil has three daughters and does not have a son. It was Laxmi who helped him in getting the boy. "Shakil had kept the boy with him as his own child. The boy has been produced before Child Welfare Committee and has been handed over to his mother Munni Khatoon for interim custody," police said. The case which came to light in January last week had its twists and turns and police have so far arrested a total of ten persons. Falak was brought to the AIIMS Trauma Centre on January 18 with severe head injury, both her arms broken, bite marks all over her body and her cheeks branded with hot iron. Falak's mother Munni was tricked into a second marriage by three women out of which two -- Laxmi and Kanta choudhry -- were arrested. The trio had promised that her three children will be taken care of.
