Chandigarh, Feb 11 (PTI) To cope with the heavy rush of pilgrims visiting Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib in Nanded city of Maharashtra, Punjab government has appealed the Centre to start another daily train from Amritsar. In a letter to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that at present only one daily train, 'Sachkhand Express' runs between Amritsar and Nanded, so devotees from Punjab who wish to visit the holy shrine in Maharashtra face "a lot of problems". He also urged union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh to start direct domestic flights from Amritsar and Chandigarh to Nanded, during a meeting at Kapurthala House here today. Badal said that during his recent visit to Nanded, a large number of delegates and prominent Sikhs had met him and expressed anguish at the lack of proper connectivity between Punjab and Nanded. Badal also urged Centre to start international flights from the upcoming international Airport at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali). He said that these flights would give further fillip to ensure better connectivity for the Punjabi diaspora. Responding to issues raised by Badal, the civil aviation minister said that he would soon convene a meeting of senior officers of the ministry and airport authority of India to address them in a time bound manner.
