Chandigarh, Feb 21 (PTI) A general alert was today sounded in Punjab following the twin blasts that rocked Hyderabad, a senior official said here. The entire state has been put on alert, he said, adding that security measures had been heightened as a precautionary step to thwart any untoward incident. At vulnerable places, including Bhakra Dam, malls, bus stands and railway stations, the security personnel had been deployed in larger numbers, officials said. Several check posts had been set up in cities and on state and national highways to check unwanted elements, officials said. Recently, Punjab DGP S S Saini had allayed fears that the state is on terror radar. However, he had asserted that state police is capable to foil evil designs of several militant outfits. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir Singh Badal had condemned the Hyderabad blasts. PTI VJ DKS HKR
