Patna, Feb 14 (PTI) Bihar Youth Congress president Lalan Kumar today alleged that there was alarming rise in the criminal activities in Bihar. He said a delegation would meet Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Union Minister of State For Home Jitendra Bhanwar Singh to seek their intervention. "Nobody is safe in the state though Chief Minister Nitish Kumar claims that he has succeeded in establising the rule of law," he said. "It is a matter of serious concern that the criminal incidents have increased in Bihar. The state government must act immediately to check the spiralling crime graph," Kumar said. He said several kidnapping cases were reported in the state during the past ten days but the police remained "mute spectator". The state Youth Congress chief claimed that according to the official report from State Crime Records Bureau, a total of 2465 people were murdered up to September this year, while cases of rape increased to 703, dacoity to 423, robbery to 1034, burglary (2699), theft (11835), riot (7415), kidnapping 3165, kidnapping for ransom (42), road dacoity (159), road robbery (747), bank dacoity (06), bank robbery (05). The National Crime Record Bureau says 3674 people were abducted in Bihar in 2010. Almost 10% of total abductions in the country, he claimed.
