The low-cost Thai airline AirAsia today announced the launch of its direct Chennai-Bangkok flights from March 22. Tickets went on sale online from today with an all- inclusive return fare of Rs 6,666 for travel during the 23 March-27 October period, an airline statement said here. "India is still a very important market for us.
We recognise that there is a very strong demand for travel between Bangkok and many major Indian cities," Tassapon Bijleveld, AirAsia Chief Executive, said. The Chennai-Bangkok flight will be available five days a week, the statement said. Bangkok is a favourite destination for many Indians and is ranked as the second most popular country for outbound Indians. Over 8,00,000 Indians visited Thailand in 2011.
