28 nomination papers rejected in Agra

Agra, Feb 11 (PTI) The nomination papers of 28 candidates in nine assembly seats in the district have been rejected on various grounds, leaving a total of 140 candidates in the fray. During the scrutiny of the papers yesterday, various errors by the candidates in filling of the nomination papers were found and many of them had not taken the oath as part of their nomination. Only in Agra Cantt, Bah and Fatehabad constituencies were the papers of all candidates found to be in order, sources said. In Agra south eight, in Etmadpur seven, in Agra North and Kheragarh four each, in Agra Rural three and in Fatehpur Sikri two nomination papers were rejected. The candidates whose nomination papers have been rejected have lodged complaints with the observer of the Election Commission alleging that their papers were wrongly rejected.
