Unveiled - Volkswagen Golf GTD

The Golf GTD is back. Volkswagen have just announced sales of the new GTD which is based on the seventh-gen Golf. Smoked lamps at the front and rear, 17-inch alloys, side skirts, rear diffuser and spoiler complete the look of the Golf GTD. Black rooflining, tartan seats, sports steering wheel and stainless steel pedals, signature elements of the GTD are even present in the new-gen. Volkswagen has also tuned the suspension to be on the sporty side.

Powering the Golf GTD is a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine which is good for 184PS and 380Nm of torque. Acceleration times of 7.5 seconds for the 0-100kmph run with the top speed estimated at 228kmph are being quoted. With the optional 6-speed DSG transmission (standard is a 6-speed manual), Volkswagen claims a fuel efficiency of 20kmpl.

Sales for the Golf GTD start at Rs 21.14 lakh in Germany this summer.
