TVS Motor re-launches twin spark plug 'Flame'

RELATED NEWS

TVS Motor Company announced the re-launch if its 'twin spark plug' motorcycle, Flame, whose first launch two-and-a-half years ago sparked a patent litigation with rival Bajaj Auto .

The motorcycle, which costs around Rs 50,000, launched as 'TVS Flame DS 125', is powered by three valve CC-VTi technology, fired by twin spark plugs.

The re-launch of the motorcycle was expected ever since the Supreme Court allowed TVS Motor on September 16 to sell the vehicle with the 'twin spark plug' technology. Bajaj Auto had claimed infringement of its patented technology.

A press release from TVS Motor issued today noted that the additional power and mileage is achieved by two separate intake ports, namely swirl and tumble ports. The swirl port creates swirl motion of air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.

"This swirl motion helps in efficient combustion of lean air-fuel mixture, thus giving maximum fuel economy in its class. "

The tumble port provides the high flow rate, which aids delivery of high power," says a press release from TVS.

Unique combination

TVS Flame DS 125 is the only motorcycle in the country to have a unique combination of three valves and two spark plugs, the release says.

Packing in 10.5 bhp @ 7500 rpm, TVS Flame DS 125 has a top speed of 95 kmph.

The bike is provided with electric start and comes in dual tone colours of red and black.
