Rustom Patel wins Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally Mumbai leg

Former champion Rustom Patel won the Mumbai leg of Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally 2012. Patel who had a penalty of 29 minutes and 54 seconds overcame the strong field on his Honda Activa to emerge the winner. He also came in first in the 4-stroke 110-160cc class while Muzaffar Ali and Nikunj Gala were second and third. The event was conducted by Sportscraft in association with Gulf Oil Corporation on the dirt tracks of Navi Mumbai.

First timer Muzzafar Ali from Bhopal, despite a penalty of 30 minutes and 15 seconds came home in the second place in his Suzuki Access, 61 seconds behind Patel. With a penalty of 33 minutes and 7 seconds, Kunal Rao came in third. The riders had to endure extreme conditions on the slush and gravel-ridden track, sometimes taking a tumble or two.
