Parthiva Sureshwaran has confirmed that he will be competing in the third season of FIA Formula 2 championship. He will be the only Indian driver on the grid this year. British telecom company Lycamobile will be his sponsor this season and his coach will be Martin Donnelly, an ex-F1 driver himself. Parthiva is aiming for a Formula One seat with the 2012 F2 championship winner being offered a chance to test drive the Williams F1 car. The second and third runner-ups will be testing GP2 cars. This year, the Formula 2 cars will have a performance upgrade related to the new Yokohama tyres and carbon composite brakes which claim to make it faster than the previous season's car by two seconds.
On his return, Parthiva said, I am really happy to return to Formula Two after gaining a lot of experience in the last couple of seasons. I feel confident heading into this season as I have a better understanding of the car and am better prepared for it. 2012 is an important year for me so will work hard to achieve the best possible result. My aim this season is to improve my overall performance by regularly finishing in the points and score some podium finishes.
