The Chevrolet Beat has arrived, starting its chapter by dealing a massive blow to the competition with its unimaginably low prices. It is a car carrying a huge weight over its rather small shoulder, the weight being the task of showcasing itself as a solid product which GMI hopes will then improve its operation in India. In order to do that, the Beat needs to offer good levels of safety, refinement, space, comfort, equipment and quality while still managing to be frugal, compact and most importantly, well-priced. With a 4-star Euro NCAP rating, 18.6kmpl as claimed fuel efficiency, best-in-segment front and rear legroom and headroom and prices starting at 3.34 lacs ex-showroom Delhi, the Chevy seems to have hit the nail on the head. The three variants, PS, LS and LT, priced at 3.34 lacs, 3.54 lacs and 3.99 lacs respectively, will be on offer with 7 color options to choose from, while the top-of-the-line variant, the LT, will feature ABS, Dual Airbags, Alloy wheels and Seatbelts with load limiters as part of an option pack taking the ex-showroom price to 4.34 lacs. Doing the driving duty will be a 1199cc DOHC engine delivering 80.5 PS of peak power.  The Beat also has a modified rear bench and suspension for India, while GMI has stated that these are launch prices due to stay for at least 60 days.
