Honda pulled the wraps of the Honda New Small Concept at the Auto Expo. This is the first time that Honda chose India for the world premier of a car. The concept car has been designed specially for India and emerging markets. The concept is a family car and comfortably seats five adult passengers. Koichi Kondo executive VP and representative director Honda Motor Company said "India is the leading country for our R&D work on the new Small Concept" The concept has been developed at the Honda R&D centre in Japan. The production model based on this is being labeled as a global car with features to suit need of Indian customers. Honda plans to launch the car in India within 2011 calendar year and in Thailand at a similar time line. Honda also previewed the CR-Z concept, the world's first hybrid car to sport a six-speed manual transmission mated to a 1.5 litre iVTEC engine along with ASIMO, Honda's humanoid robot. The CR-Z will be revealed at a later time.
