The markets have been trading in a flattish kind of zone since the past few sessions, said CNBC-TV18's Managing Editor Udayan Mukherjee. "Not with great excitement for the last six sessions but nevertheless the markets are trading."

Here is a verbatim transcript of Udayan Mukherjee's comments on CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying video.

Q: More action for the market?

A: I do not know about that because I thought maybe this week would have begun on a slightly positive note but it has not; it's just been very lacklustre. Much that we want excitement and crave for excitement it appears that the market has got other things on its mind and having gone through the last many months of this range-bound trade, you begin to wonder whether we are getting into a slightly longer phase, much longer than what we have seen already of range-bound kind of trading. So every two months we see these calls of breakout and breakdowns but the market is just not obliging.

So who knows whether we are in for some more range-bound trading. The range can extend by 100 points or so because from 5,180 the range got expanded to 5,300 in January but broadly give or take 100-150 points on either side we may just be in this range for-who knows a whole lot longer.
