GST meet should focus on 3 talking points: Thomas Isaac

As the three-day discussion on the implementation of Goods and Services Tax regime kicks off today, Kerala's Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that there is need for more deliberations because of difference between states and the Centre over the proposals made by the government.

As the three-day discussion on the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime kicks off today, Kerala's Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that there is need for more deliberations because of differences between states and the Centre over the proposals made by the government.

The minister said that the pecking order of the discussions will be administrative mechanism, followed by compensation for states and the GST rate structure. He said that the official will differentiate which sectors come in under state GST structure and which will fall under the Centre's ambit. He added that the Centre wants the entire services sector under its ambit.
