Square Enix set up shop in India, plan on promoting Indian game developers with their Game Development Contest.
Square Enix is a name you’ve heard by now even if you aren’t into the Final Fantasy series. Sure, they made their name primarily thanks to the well received Japanese Role Playing Games but today, they’re also known for Western franchises like Tomb Raider, Hitman etc after purchasing Eidos Interactive.Now they’ve turned their sights to India and are planning on opening a game development studio in this country. However this studio will concentrate on the more casual side of things like handheld and social gaming for the time being. In the near future, they may look at outsourcing some of their games to India or even develop games for consoles but for now they want to isolate and promote budding gamers. |
