Video: Hands-on with the LG Optimus G Pro

LG’s star attraction at this year’s MWC as well as the recent tech exhibition held in Delhi was the Optimus G Pro. This is LG’s flagship handset (for now) of 2013 and packs in all the cutting edge technology one would expect in smartphone of today. Some of the big highlights of this handset includes the Full HD, 5-5-inch display which is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 600 SoC. Other impressive features include 32 GB on-board memory and a micro-SD slot that allows for expansion up to 64 GB. LG has pitched this phone to go head on against Samsung’s Galaxy Note range and with the current specifications the phone is no pushover. We had a chance to play with the phone at the LG Tech Show in Delhi and this is our initial impression of the phone. As you can probably tell from the video, it’s not the most ergonomic handset for single-handed use. In fact, unless you’re Hulk, we doubt you’ll be operating this with one hand. We do appreciate the way LG has managed to shave off the bezel down to a bare minimum, which gives you nothing but screen in the front. The phone is quite chunky and the gloss finish will be a pain to maintain. You do get a removable back cover this time unlike the Optimus G. The back is very reminiscent of the HTC One X, especially the camera portion. The Optimus UI is once again very similar to the one we saw on the Optimus G with slight changes to the camera interface. In case you missed the train, here’s some of the key features of the G Pro that’s expected to hit Indian retail shores come August for a rumoured price tag of Rs 40,000.
