The meeting, which came soon after the review of connectivity-related infrastructure sectors in the last week of April, lasted for about three hours, and was attended by top officials from PMO, NITI Aayog and all infrastructure Ministries of the Government of India, said a PMO statement.
The Deputy Chief Minister was replying to the discussion on the demands of grants for PDD, Housing and Urban Development departments in the state Assembly here yesterday.
To ensure transparency in implementation of rural electrification programme, the Power Ministry will launch a new app, GARV-II, to provide real time data of all six lakh villages of the country.
"Railways' expenditure on energy is the second highest after salary and pension bill. Expansion of electrified routes across the country will also help in reducing the energy bill as we have committed to reduce the energy cost," he said at global seminar on Mission Electrification and Decarbonisation of Indian Railways here.
The conference will also project Indian Railways as an attractive investment destination considering its plans for huge investment in next 5 years towards modernization of its electrified network and use of renewable energy.
"Twenty eight villages have been electrified across the country during last week (August 15-21, 2016) under the DeenDayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna," Power Ministry said in a statement.
The central Power Ministry has been boasting of its rural electrification plan through its mobile application called Garv. The Ministry shows only a 6 percent deficit for the state of Uttar Pradesh to become a completely electrified state.
"We are going to stop production of diesel locomotives that is the decision which Sureshji (Railway Minister) will take quickly. I hope that it (electrification) would be done in next three years. I want to do it in three years," the Power Minister said
In a step towards development, government aims to develop 300 rurban clusters under the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission and announces 100 percent village electrification by 1st May, 2018.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced in his Independence Day speech last year that all 18,452 unelectrified villages will get electricity within 1,000 days. The Centre has decided to provide power to 18,452 villages by May 1, 2018
Total income during the quarter increased 32.4 percent to Rs 621 crore and operating profit surged 32.3 percent to Rs 585 crore compared to preceding quarter.
