Ranbaxy Labs and ICICI Bank are the top picks, says Amisha Vora, Joint MD, Prabhudas Lilladher.

Vora told CNBC-TV18, “We are bullish on Ranbaxy Labs within the pharma and we think that post the resolution of their US problems which they have been facing, US FDA problem for the last three years. I think over the next three years they will go places with a strong parent, extremely strong first to file pipeline and domestically also gradually their portfolio is shifting to a better product mix.”

She further added, “All these three augur well for Ranbaxy and from investment perspective we think that this is a good turnaround story and one should aggressively look at it.”

“We have, amongst our top picks, ICICI Bank and amongst the slightly smaller one we like the Yes Bank and in PSU side, despite whatever asset quality problems, we like SBI and Union Bank. But I will just come back to one more point on markets which we were just discussing what some of the factors that can aid the rally and I think that the combination is such that A] in terms of whatever macro numbers we are seeing, very pathetic numbers all around and B] most of the pain though it is not being taken by the indices, it has taken by rupee, so in rupee - in dollar terms markets are looking so much more attractive and also the shares, which are asset heavy. So I think that in all probability, the rupee should also appreciate and so should also be the markets. That looks a reasonably good possibility.”
