Vijay told CNBC TV18, "Karnataka Bank has got all the preconditions of bank to be taken over. It has got small mini families of that area being shareholders and it's a very good bank though people would question the asset quality given its huge concentration on the plantation sector and its advances."
He further added, "Karnataka Bank has been making and this time it seems to be fairly serious, so one needs to see Karnataka, Lakshmi Vilas Bank , Karur Vaysya Bank , City Union Bank , Dhanalaxmi Bank , these are all names that keep cropping up every time investors bankers have a drink about and talk about banks. It is difficult to say but as they say in the market there is no smoke without fire, so we will have to see."
