Irani positive on the cement sector

Mehraboon Irani, Centrum Broking is slightly positive on the cement sector.

Irani told CNBC-TV18, "I am not negative honestly on this sector even from the budget side, I personally feel that stocks in this sector in terms of valuations are not too stretched, and in fact are little bit attractive, they may not outperform the markets, even if the market falls they are not going to fall too sharply and if the market goes up, I think the stocks will perform in line with the markets, the valuations be it an ACC or Ambuja Cement or Grasim, they are all quite attractive at the moment even now."

He further added, "what the market is going to like even after the budget is thrust on infrastructure, a distinct possibility which emerges is the tax limit as far as interest on housing loans go and that limit is hiked and which according to me should come through. The market will look at it as a positive for the infrastructure sector and ultimately the growth for cement companies, so on the whole I think this should be a decent budget for the cement sector. I would like to belong to the camp which feels that the budget is going to be positive on the whole and maybe more on the macro front as far as the sector goes, so I remain slightly positive on the cement sector."
