Hold NTPC , says Jagannadham Thunuguntla of SMC Global.

Thunuguntla told CNBC-TV18, "With a perspective of 2-3 years I think power stocks will not outperform. Power stocks have become power less because if you see 3-4 years back private sector power companies have come but none of them are trading above the issue price. If you are interested then see some midcap PSU banks for 2-3 years. But if you want to stay in NTPC then you can hold on because it will not fall. But chances of outperformance are less. I think hold between Rs 160-200."

The company's trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS was at Rs 11.04 per share. (Sep, 2011). The stock's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 14.86. The latest book value of the company is Rs 82.94 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company was 1.98. The dividend yield of the company was 2.32%.
