Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma captured two wickets in four balls on Wednesday as the tourists tightened the screws against a struggling West Indies after a rain-delayed start to the second day of their second test.

Sharma, exploiting the extra pace and bounce on offer at Kensington Oval, removed nightwatchman Devendra Bishoo and Ramnaresh Sarwan in the sixth over of the day after play had been delayed by 45 minutes when early morning showers soaked the outfield.

West Indies, already 1-0 down in the three match series, resumed in a precarious position of 30 for three and limped to lunch in trouble at 82-5, still 119 in arrears of India's first innings total of 201.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was not out 12 while Marlon Samuels, who replaced sacked vice-captain Brendan Nash, was unbeaten on 15, but West Indies needing a big partnership from the middle-order batsmen to have any real hope of passing India's modest first innings effort.

Bishoo, who came to the crease for just one delivery the previous night, scored an enterprising 13 off 18 deliveries when his luck deserted him and he fended a short-pitched ball from Sharma to Virat Kohli at gully.

Sarwan, content to play a more cautious role, had made 18 from 43 balls when he completely misjudged a full-length ball from Sharma and was trapped lbw in the same over, the 15th wicket to fall in four sessions.
