LONDON (Reuters) - Didier Drogba scored twice on his return from a three-match European suspension as Chelsea drew 2-2 at Atletico Madrid to seal their place in the knockout round of the Champions League on Tuesday.
Chelsea were joined in the last 16 by Girondins Bordeaux, Manchester United and Porto.
Chelsea advanced from Group D with Porto, who won 1-0 at APOEL Nicosia. Although Atletico, who had not scored in the competition this season, held Chelsea with two superb Sergio Aguero goals, the Spaniards can only finish third at best.
Manchester United sealed their place the hard way, needing two late goals -- from Paul Scholes and a deflected Antonio Valencia effort -- to force a 3-3 home draw with CSKA Moscow in Group B after trailing 3-1 with less than 10 minutes to play.
Bordeaux advanced from Group A with a 2-0 win at Bayern Munich leaving the four-time European champions with only a slim chance of qualifying following Juventus's 1-0 victory at Maccabi Haifa in the same group.
A superb match between AC Milan and Real Madrid ended in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro, with neither team yet assured of qualifying from Group C after Olympique Marseille beat visitors FC Zurich 6-1 to keep their hopes alive.
VfL Wolfsburg won 3-0 at Besiktas and are now favourites to go through with Manchester United from Group B.
