Lillitput Kidswear wins SME of the year award

On this special feature of CNBC-TV18, we put the spotlight on the undying spirit of entrepreneurship in India. The Indian small and medium enterprises (SME) employing 70% of India's workforce and 95% of India's industrial units. So on this special show we decided to feature the winners of India's biggest business award - the Emerging India Awards presented by CNBC-TV18 in association with ICICI Bank and CRISIL. In its fifth addition this year the awards were given at New Delhi in glittering function with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and the Minister of State of Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia. Chosen from a pool of 3 lakh entries, these are our game changers whose pioneering efforts are transforming the Indian landscape.
Lilliput Kidswear is the winner of the Emerging India 2009 SME of the year award.  A first generation entrepreneur Sanjeev Narula began exporting international standard kidswear in 1991 with a small unit of 25 sewing machines and an investment of just Rs 1 lakh. In 2003 he decided to cash in on the domestic retail market. In 19 years Lilliput Kidswear has grown to over Rs 300 crore company with Rs 225 exclusive brand outlets and a presence in over a 150 Indian cities and 30 stores around the globe.
