How ACG worldwide was built: Vision & strategy

Entrepreneurship is all about sacrifice today in the hope that tomorrow will be better says iconic business leader Narayana Murthy. How true! When we look at some of the success stories of people like Kumar Mangalam Birla or Shashi Ruia or Vijay Mallya- Narayana Murthy's observation keep ringing. All these people were thrown into the whirlpool of business at a very young age because of untimely demise of their fathers.

Take the case of Kumar Mangalam Birla, he had to take over the chairman of Aditya Birla Group at the age of 28 as his father Aditya Birla passed away suddenly. And very typically they were doubting promises who felt he was too young to handle such a huge group. But Kumar Mangalam Birla proved it his sceptic wrong. Today Aditya Birla Group is a USD 35 billion giant which operates in 36 countries across six continents.

In case of Ruia brothers both Ravi and Shashi were just 20 and 24 years old when their father Nand Kishor Ruia passed away suddenly. Both the brothers rolled up their sleeves and worked shoulder to shoulder to make their fathers dream come true. Today Ruia brothers have build the Essar Group to a USD 15 billion conglomerate.

The story of this week episode is very similar. Two brothers Jasjit Singh and Ajit Singh with just 21 and 23 years old when their father Daljit Singh passed away suddenly. Result the two brothers had to cut short their academic pursuit abroad and come back to India.

A look at Associated Capsule story and you will know how to make it big when you are fighting with your back to the wall.
