On CNBC-TV18’s special show Storyboard this week Global CMO, Elisa Steele evaluates Yahoo's media blitz. Volkswagen readies India for the Beetle and the Polo. And Hindustan Unilever puts Domex on the Rajdhani.
To start with Yahoo, the company's CEO and CMO were on their first India visit since joining Yahoo less than a year ago. On the agenda was meeting employees, advertisors and the government. Storyboard met Chief Marketing Officer Elisa Steele to find out how its USD 100 million plus splurge on traditional media and the search tie-up with Microsoft are helping the beleaguered brand.
For those of you who read the Times of India, you woke up to this on Wednesday. For a brand that has advertised sparsely since it drove into India with the Passat in 2007, Volkswagen has clearly had a change of heart. This Rs 8.5 crore that you saw splashed on the newspaper was part of some Rs 40 cror budget that Volkswagon has for made in India ad campaigns. This is a build up to the launch of the first mass market car from the Volkswagon - the Polo in January. Sweta Sriram and Ravi Balakrishnan report for Storyboard.
Hindustan Unilever's Domestos brand may dominate the world of toilet cleaning in markets like the UK and Russia, but its Indian avatar Domex is up against a huge competitor in Harpic and has been bumped down to number 3 earlier in the year-. The brand is getting help and a CSR related plank to gain mindshare and hopefully market share. Ravi Balakrishnan has the details on the same
