Union Minister Kalraj Mishra today laid the foundation stone for an MSME Technology Centre here with focus on technological and skilled manpower support for electronics systems design and manufacturing (ESDM) and automotive electronic sector of the region.

The Centre is being established under Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP), which will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 2,200 crore, including World Bank loan assistance of USD 200 million.

"The Technology Centre will also ensure competitiveness of MSMEs in the ESDM eco-system by strengthening their linkages to the mainstream manufacturing sector across the globe," Mishra said.

"The Technology Centre, apart from technological support to the industries, would train nearly 3,000 trainees annually on becoming fully operational." He also highlighted that the National Vendor Development Programme (NVDP) will facilitate matchmaking between large scale public sector undertakings and MSMEs by bringing them together on a common platform for mutual benefit of both.

This Technology Centre is one of the 15 such new entities that are being set up in the country by the Ministry of MSME.

For the Technology Centre in Greater Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided 15 acres free of cost whereas the central government will be investing more than Rs 145 crore in creating facilities towards plant and machinery, development of civil and associate infrastructure.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik stressed on timely completion of the Technology Centre as "very important" for the development of the state.

He also said Uttar Pradesh as a big state deserves one more Technology Centre in addition to the ones sanctioned at Kanpur and Greater Noida and requested the Centre to take necessary steps to open one more at the earliest.
