HDFC Bank Q2 net profit surges 30% to Rs 687.5 cr

NII growth was lower-than-expected. It  was expected at 9.5% but came at 4.78%. This despite QoQ improvement in NIMs (4.2% versus 4.1%) and also CASA has improved to 47% versus 44%.

Advances grew at 11.2% in Q2 and deposits grew by 11.97%. Revenues from corporate banking was lower by 24% and retail by 3.39%.

Profit from treasury stood at Rs 250 crore versus loss of Rs 162 crore. Net NPAs were down 4% to Rs 602.43 crore (QoQ).

Other income was up 56.58% to Rs 1,007 crore from Rs 643.11 crore. Provisions were up 71.7% to Rs 594.14 crore from Rs 346.03 crore.
