Excertps from CNBC-TV18's exclusive interview with Ajay K Vij:
Q: What kind of contribution have you seen on formulations and bulk drug business? Could you also update us on the net sales figures?
A: The growth has been all-round. We had very good growth in formulations business and also in the bulk drug business. In case of formulation business, the growth is around 31.5% and in bulk, it is 46%. So growth has come from both.
The net sales numbers for the quarter is Rs 97.79 crore. Overall topline is up from Rs 73.23 crore last year. So it is a total growth of 33.5%.
The net profit figure growth is at Rs 8.2 crore, up from 5.7 crore last year. The growth has also come from the international market for the company.
Q: How have margins for the formulations and bulk businesses for the quarter been?
A: Margins have been good in both the businesses and have been in line with what we have seen in the past. That is reflected in the net profits numbers that you see.
Q:You also received US FDA approval for marketing Carboplatin. Any developments on that front and any revenue generation from there?
A: Carboplatin has been the first major milestone for the company and it is our first ANDA approval in the US. We are very excited about it and our first shipment is getting ready to roll off our facilities in the UK.
We are also expecting another approval very shortly for the second product, Paclitaxel. With that, we should start making inroads into the US market.
Q: How many ANDAs have you filed as of now and how many are in the pipeline? Also, could you leave us with FY07 estimates?
A: We don't have the policy of giving guidance for the future on the ANDA numbers, but we have filed four ANDAs.
