Kapil Wadhwan, MD, Dewan Housing, said they have not seen any significant accretion to non-performing assets, or NPAs. The NPAs are currently at 1%.
He added that they see 25-30% loan growth in the next three quarters.
ExcerpExcerpts from CNBC-TV18's exclusive interview with Kapil Wadhwan:
Q: What has contributed to your growth this quarter?
A: The increase in disbursements and the relative increments in interest rates have contributed to overall growth. Our total income has moved up by 66% compared to the June 2006 quarter. Our profit after tax has also moved up by 42%. Loan disbursements have also moved up by almost 42% to Rs 409 crore for this quarter.
Q: What kind of NPA level do you have at this point?
A: At present, our NPA level is a little bit over 1%.
Q: Have you seen an uptake in the NPA level in the past quarter or so?
A: Our focus has largely been on the lower- and middle-income segments. In those segments, contrary to regular perceptions that there are high NPAs, we have not really seen a significant increase in NPA levels for the quarter.
Q: What do you think you might be able to hold by way of a lending growth for the next few quarters?
A: We are seeing 25-30% growth over the last financial year in terms of incremental disbursements. The first quarter growth has been very encouraging and we wish to go with that 25-30% growth projection for the next three quarters as well.
