I see MNS as main opposition in long-term: Ashok Chavan
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Ashok Chavan discusses the factionalism within the Mumbai Police force, 26/11 and the possibility of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) merging back in to the Congress.
Q: If anybody coming into the city will make two points, one is that the cosmopolitan character of Mumbai appears to be in danger. Second, the city seems to be on the verge of collapse because the infrastructure is collapsing. You said in the first segment that the cosmopolitan character of the city will be preserved and if necessary you will take per-emptive and proactive action to make sure that nobody does anything and you are now saying that the infrastructure give it four years and you will deliver on that.
A: Around Rs 50,000 crore have been pumped into Mumbai and at various stages works are going on. The earlier Chief Minister had also taken projects, completion of those and the new other projects have been planned.
Q: I accept that but all we are saying when will this happens. We know how long the sea link took.
A: Schedules have been fixed up. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is doing lot of things. Lot of money has been given to Mumbai.
Q: As a citizen, I ask you when will it get better?
A: Next two years.
Q: Will it?
A: Yes, the schedules have been fixed up for the metro rail work and the monorail work.
