BJP backs Nitish on Bihar Divas celebration in Mumbai

"It has been 100 years since the formation of Bihar and people from the state living anywhere celebrate this occasion. Every person from Bihar has the right to celebrate it with pride anywhere," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.

The MP from Bhagalpur, Bihar, said Nitish Kumar will be attending a cultural programme in Mumbai on April 15 to celebrate the Foundation Day of his state and nobody has a right to stop him. "Those opposing him should look for other avenues and issues to practice their kind of politics. Kumar has a high stature and reputation.

His boycott is not justified," Hussain said. The BJP leader said people of Bihar have slogged for years in Maharashtra and contributed immensely, along with people of the state, to its development.

"Hence, nobody should oppose the visit of Nitish Kumar. This is not good for the unity and integrity of the nation," Hussain said. Kumar's JD(U) is a part of BJP-led NDA coalition. BJP is also a junior partner in JD(U)-led government in Bihar headed by Kumar. Though there were reports earlier that MNS may oppose Kumar's visit, MNS chief Raj Thackeray clarified today that there would not be any opposition.
