Volatile market cause NAVs to end lower

It was a volatile session in the market! Though the markets tried to recover losses in the half of the trading session but couldn't hold on to its gaining streak. In the boarder indices, it was weighed down by Large cap funds but Small & Mid cap presented a good performance. The advance: decline ratio for both the category recorded was 4: 73 for Large cap and 44: 5 for Small & Mid cap. The other equity categories too posted negative returns with the ratio recorded for ELSS, Equity Diversified and Balanced fund was11: 38, 22: 70 and 9: 12 respectively.

In the sectoral space, Banking & Finance and Techonolgy which were seen gaining in last couple of session finally succumb to the market pressure and ended in red. None of the funds in any sector category advanced.

The downtrend in global markets had negatively impacted market sentiments. The Sensex was down by 82.06 point or -0.46 % and closed at 17748.69 while Nifty fell over 90.75 point or - 0.57% to end at 5381.60.

In the debt space, it was a positive mood among funds. After delivering shaky performance in a few session both Short term and Long term funds posted positive returns registering very few losers. (Click here to know more on Debt funds)
