As the benchmark indices lifted higher by positive global cues and huge buying in the high beta stocks, equity diversified NAVs ended higher. The rally was led by infrastructure (capital goods + power), metal, rate sensitive and oil & gas stocks.
The broader indices outperformed the benchmark indices; the BSE Midcap Index went up 4.15% and Smallcap Index rose 4.6%. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 14,253.24, up 399.54 points or 2.88% and the 50-share NSE Nifty surged 2.97% or 122.10 points, to settle at 4233.50.

All sectoral funds advanced; BSE Bank, Healthcare, FMCG and IT indices were up by 2.56%, 2.33%, 1.38% and 0.62%, respectively.
Short term debt funds also ended with positive returns while long term debt funds closed mixed with negative bias; their advance:decline ratio stood at 63:23 and 33:44, respectively.
